Someone who's close should organize one. I'd try to make the trip again. The Ironhorse is a really nice motorcycle lodge in the area, great for camping, cabins, etc.
Hard to tell from photos, but I'm impressed. Looks like you're keeping up with the sportsbike in front of you. Eight photos when they normally do 2-4 makes me think the speed made them take notice. You seem to know your limits well. You come close, but don't drag. If you're a flatlander then I'm doubly impressed.
Just having fun. Dynas really are just perfect for this type of riding. Though, I also rode a lot of 80 mph miles on Florida Interstate same week, and Dyna was just great for that too. When I get older, and less proficient, maybe I'll get a decker . Then, much later, I'll think about getting a softail ;P
Two years ago rode the dragon on a rented Ultra Classic during a road trip. Had a close call with the outside of the road. Scared the c**p out of the wife. Frankly, it made my ba**s tingle. Was an overall great ride though. Maybe next time on a smaller bike, by myself, will be more fun.
i've been there twice..rode it going up and down the dragon...i seen last summer there was a few more stores opening up .....Deals gap has the coolest t shirts....it is a awesome ride...there is also some really good riding surrounding the dragon..we were there in june 08..went to the h.o.g rally.....we were really headed to the dragon rally, just got tied up with some people we knew...had a blast .....nothing like heading out on the bike with just a general direction..no schedule..really no plan..other than have fun, ride, fellowship with friends ...that's what its about....never met a stranger...weather is warming up..watch out for yourselves...knees up,rubber down..l8r
I just came back from the Tail o the Dragon. 318 curves in 11 miles. Dyna has to be the best HD for this ride. See pics on www.Killboy.com - Go to store, March 8, continue, cruisers, pages 25 (last one) and the first few of page 26... or to
New tires, FXDX shocks in the back, and V-Rod fork internals make a big difference for handling.
I will need new pegs, again.
Nicely done 06FX,
I am headed there for about 10 days getting there about the 19th. They surely do have an abundance of awesome motorcycling roads and trails in the area
