Default Break-in Question

Alright guys, I just traded my Sportster in on a 09 Fatbob. I've had it out for close to 300miles already. This is my first BRAND NEW bike. The wheeler gave me the typical break-in period speech. I want to here what your break-in routine.

I try and run it like I ride normally. Lugging the engine is the worst thing you can do at break in so be careful people don't want to rev engine on new bike and do the opposite. I also rode in all gears including 6th after 300 miles. I also fluctuate the speed and not too long in one gear. I also changed my oil at 500 miles. I went to sync after 1000k.

+1

Vary the RPM.

I changed oil at 1,000 miles.

When trying to follow the shift/rpm chart in the owners manual, I think the consensus is that generally has you shifting at too low of rpms. These newer FI bikes need just a bit higher rpm. Not a bunch, but as a guide you would not want to shift into 6th gear below 60mph.
