Need to modify a Fat Bob for my 5'6" wife. Put a Bare Bones seat on it. Definately helped.
Set the shocks down to level #1. She can touch...but not completely flat footed.
Would lowering the forks help her also. If so should I use the spring lowering kit. Have saw some mention moving the tubes in the trees to lower?? How is that done and is it safe?
It isn't just whether her feet are flat, but how close in they are as well. The standard I use is being able to set on the bike and push it across the parking lot.
Going 1/2 inch shorter on your rear shocks will give you a inch or more lower on the seat.
The Fatbob comes with 12inch I beleive so 11 1/2 shocks might give you what you need. I wouldnt go any more than a 1/2 inch to a inch shorter in the back without lowering the front also.
I put Progressive 412's (11") on mine and it made a huge difference - I'm 5'11' but have a short inseam. I went from tippy toes to feet flat on the ground. My Brother did the same AND lowered the front as well - I don't recommend that. It rides very tight and has very little travel in the front end. The 1" difference on the rear shocks makes a HUGE difference and they are only a couple hundred bucks.
Tomorrow On my 09 Fat Bob Im gona put on a 1 " lowering block from Tamarack $80.00 on the rear and lower my shocks in the front by the freebe method . I'm only a 28" inseam I will let ya know tomorrow what this does. I have forward controls been a nightmare getting my feet on the pegs I also have an Bare Bones Solo sent it back for a silhoutte been a nightmare to get my feet on them pegs, I got new pegs almost their now .
