Hi,
My dad is trying to install the HD mini tach (68986-04) on his 2008 FXDC equipped with a V&H fuel pack. We understand the pink wire from the tach is to hook up to pin 3 on the ECM. The problem is that the fuel pack replaces the plug and there is a brown wire it pin 3. A previous thread states that the tack will not work with the fuel pack installed. Does anyone have a solution to this dilemma?
Thanks,
Rodger
I dont have a fuel pak but have a PCV so not sure if will work the same.
I had my tach first so the signal wire was hooked to pin 3 on the plug. When I put the PCV on the signal wire stayed were it was, its just that plug is now plugged into the PCV. Tach still works fine.
So if would have installed the tach after the PCV install, I would of needed to find the stock plug that goes into the PCV and put the signal wire on pin 3.

Are you trying to hook up the tach to the fuel pack harness or the stock harness? you get the tach signal from the stock harness not the fuel pak. I have a fuel pack and a tach and it works fine.
+1, there isn't a wire in the stock plug for the tach lead, you have to add it. You cant get a signal off the fuel pack if it it;s a dead wire on the ecm.
