It is just to cramped on mid controls. The forwards I have on the Fat Bob are the first for me, but I would not go back to mids for anything. Maybe just a peg for a change of position, but the controls would stay forward!!

If your bike has the rear brake cylinder and has the mid mount shaft capped on the primary

here is a couple pictures of a option to do cheaply.

The only things i had to buy after getting to gether the basic parts was some hiem joints and a die to put all the parts to gether. all parts cost cost less than 100 dollars for a fxr, dyna sould be cheaper to do.

I've got mid controls with the adjustable highway pegs, and spend 99% of the time on the highway pegs. I shift and brake with my heels. IMHO, it's the best of both worlds - you can access the controls from both sets of pegs. With forwards, you're stuck with control from only one spot.

I am 5'10'' 280lb had forwards going back to mids with highway pegs. My opinion forwards are comfortable but you give up some control and the ability to stand up on the pegs.

Goin back to mids is really up to your comfort level. If thats what you prefer, who am I to tell you your opinion.

I have only had a short spin on a Sportster but I think they ride a lot different to a dyna in that they are flickable in the twisties. I find with a dyna that you need to get your line spot on through a bend, it is a bit more unforgiving than a Sportster. Getting my Fat Bob is the first time I have had forwards and I did not think I was going to like it, but I was wrong and now I much prefer forward controls for cruising. I feel as in control of my Bob as I have with any of my other bikes but I have had to adapt to the new riding position, the weight and ground clearance of the bike. I think you are always better riding with what feels most secure control wise, but I would, as suggest, see if I could try one with mids first. It may be you just need to get use to a different style of bike rather than a different peg position?

Mids definitely make cornering..and bumps..easier to deal with. While i do intend to put highway pegs on my Bob..i will keep the mids. Tried a friends bike with forwards and hated them..and i'm 6 ft. tall...just never felt stable with forwards..too much stress on the tailbone..and wind up the pants leg sucks when it's 40 dgrees! my 2cents........

Sounds to me like have your answer.I've tried several bikes with forwards but never felt completely comfortable. I always feel like I'm stretching to reach the pegs and it seems to take a conscious effort to keep my feet on the pegs.32 inch inseam may have something to do with that.I even tried a set of highway pegs on my Bob and didn't like em so I gave them away.I did once sit on a Nightster with forwards and that felt alright but they are quite a bit closer than they are on a Dyna.
