I just recently installed some bct baffles. They sounded great, deeper tone. The only thing was they are louder than I would have liked. So after riding the bike for a couple days, tonight I wanted to try something before dishing out more money for the QQ series. Since I installed the bct's deeper into the pipe I took my stock v&h baffles and cut them in half and was able to put them back in the stock location. Fired it up, and sure enough it was quieter. Still has that deep tone. So I went for a quick spin. Felt really good. Did not choke it off at all, maybe even a little more torque. <--- (probably my imagination) The bike was popping a bit when I shifted before. Tonight it did not seem do do that. Although, that usually happened after the bike got good and warmed up. Tonights ride was to short for that I think. So, we'll see. Has anybody else here tried this? If any of you fill like testing it out for yourself, let me know what you think.
Playin with baffles is a good thing especially when you understand how they work. When I had my bassani pro 2 into 1 the baffle is louvered & wide open...lacking a little on the bottom. I made an exact copy of a propipe standard baffle & tried it. Peak numbers were the same, but the torque jumped from 80 to 90 at 2500 rpm's. Sound was a little quieter, but still had the bassani deep tone!
i am sure someone on here will buy those old baffles... are they 2002?
They are 2001. So far this little mod is working out. I went back out again for a bit. The sound at idle is great. Cruising speed is much more subtle. I'll get more riding time in this week. For sure if I end up changing the baffles out, I'm sure I can sell them here.
This pic should give you an idea what I did. The arrow points to where the bct is mounted. Also, the bct baffle is at the recommended 6" depth. So by cutting the stock baffle in half I was able to fit it in there.

I did the exact same thing as you did and it does quiet it down a bit but still keeps the deep sound. The guy at BCT recommended to do this and it worked great.
