I haven't seen my rims yet but I called my indy today and asked if he had checked them out. Per him, there is some noticeable pitting in a spot on the rear wheel but shouldn't be noticeable when mounted on the bike. Still, CP told me the reason the wheels took so long is because they had to completely redo the wheel because of some blemishes. On the front wheel there is a smooth bubble that looks like a cigarette burn or something between the spokes. Not noticeable unless you are looking for it but still no excuse for it. My indy checked the rims and took out some rough spots etc. before sending them in.
On top of that, I went to pay my credit card today, online, that CP requires for payment (they don't take cash, debit, money order, paypal, etc.). On 3 separate occasions (twice by phone and once by email), they quoted me a 3 week turnaround on the rims and $550 total including return shipping. They charged my card $610. They are now telling me they started charging for shipping as of 1/1/08 (that's 08, not 09 - not a typo) and that's why the additional charge.
Now, the rims will probably still look great when installed on my bike. And $550, I thought, was a very reasonable price. But when my order takes twice as long because of rework and still comes back with blemishes and then they overcharge me without telling me, that's when they start heading towards the top of my **** list quick.
Dispute the charges with your credit card company and them see how long it takes Chrome Pro to contact you to make things right.
Good Luck
Tom
Forgot to add that to my post. I just emailed them back with a copy of the letter I enclosed with the rims confirming what I was quoted. I told them if they weren't going to offer to honor their quote, I would be disputing the charge with my credit card company - but I am giving them 24 hours to respond before I do that.
I was thinking of sending mine off next winter but cant imagine going through all that while my bike is on blocks. Might just look at after market wheels instead.
I sent my 07 FatBoy rims off to them shortly after I bought it. They quoted my $550 to do both. This is before other companies were offering wheel exchanges on the 07's. They took forever, when I called them after the two weeks they said they would have them ready, they stated that because of the .50 caliber holes that they encountered some problems and had to redo them. Long story short I finally got them after about 5 weeks and they forgot to send the bearings with them and when I called they couldn't find them. They eventually found them and sent to me. The tech that put them on for me said he had seen better chrome jobs. Pitting can be seen, but not at 75mph.
sorry to hear about your luck. I do appreciate your posting though. I like to know what others think, and it definitely does influence my decisions to spend money. Businesses need to know that.
