Today left the house for a 3 hour run after the honey dewsss!! Got to the first corner and made the turn just fine except gave the Dyna a little too much gas and for the first time, the back end tried to come around. I must say, that got my attention very quick!! It was dry and no rock or loose gravel to deal with. The only thing I can guess is that my turn was too sharp and I must have been on the side of the tire instead of the tread area. Anycase, could have been a real bummer but pulled it out! Oh well, shame on me!!
About 50 of us from the local HOG chapter were on a ride today. We went way out in the back blocks to a country gun club, did a bit of skeet shooting and had a BBQ.
On the way back there was a real tight bend (25km/h advisory) and it was plastered with "damp" cow turds. I know what you mean about getting your attention real quick, MrD, because it sure got mine, LOL
Just as well it was a real slow bend or several of us may have ended up in the sh*t, so to speak.
Glad nothing bad happened to you. I have an 05 Dyna SG and I wonder what its limits are in the corner. Hate to find out through a bad experience. The bike does handle good but just don't know how hard I can push it yet. So far so good.
Good point. The same thing applies if you get behind a livestock hauler, or horse trailer. Pee and Poo mix is slippery. You don't need a curve. An incline will allow the mix to drain from the trailer to the pavement. Just about any bike with any torque, will react to the mix. Ride safe and have fun.
I stiffened the fork springs and added a fork brace on my 05 WG so holds tight, but whether its wet leaves or cow pies, speed needs to be slow enough to give you enought reaction time - that's the theory until we go "Oh $hit!!" We've all been there. I believe the theory is be at a speed that allows you to accelerate through the turn.

I was riding this evening and hit a street where they scarafied the blacktop in order to put another coat on. Well they made all the long grooves that run parallel with the direction of the road and snake left & right and the grinding machine cuts the surface of the old blacktop exposing all these really smooth shiny spots. I turned onto this street at about 25 mph and woo hoo I'm fishtailing all over the place for the next 2 miles......the front tire is following the grooves and the back tire is slipping on the shiny spots. I remembered my safety instructor telling me 30 years ago about riding over a steel bridge grate in the rain...."just back off the throttle easily, stay off the brakes, no shifting, easy throttle and let the front tire go where it's gonna go by itself" Went 2 miles like that.......scared the $hit outa me[8D]
