As most Harley owners will tell you, you need to watch out for the "Crack ******" when you pull into a gas station late at night. They always want to go for a ride. "yuck"...
Harleys are a funny thing. I used to resent them alot, just thought they were dated, etc. But when I wanted a street bike for communting over 100 miles a day, my favored Jap brand HONDA had nothing that tickled my fancy. I kept looking at the Dyna models and finally with spousal approval went shopping. First dealer's inventory was sucky, and I was not impressed, felt pressed to make a sale. I left. Waited about a month, still deciding. Went to Seattle Harley Davidson in Lynnwood Washington. Man oh man. Nice dealer ship and nice folks too, answered all of my questions and made recommendations. I decided on a 2007 Dyna Super glide custom in cobalt blue. Took it home next day in the back of my truck, neighbor helped me unload and I saddled up for a break in ride. I fell in love with it within the first mile. never had I rode a bike that not only sounded so nice, but felt .... so smooth so steady yet so POWERFUL, I put 150 miles on it that afternoon on the backroads of whidbey island. It now has 15K on it.

Welcome Pete! Well the first thing you want to do if you plan on doing any maintenance or modifications yourself is go buy a factory service manual for your year and model. Don't get an aftermarket one get a factory HD one. Look on ebay first as someone may be selling an old used one cheap.
Another thing: You can buy most HD factory parts 20% off on line from Zanotti HD in Pa. (just google them) you will need a part number to use their on line system but they are pretty good.
