I would have already been in there wanting to see my bike and know what they hell they were doing that they couldn't do a 4 hour service in 12 days. Thats totall bull **** and i would be pissed and they better make it right with you for sure. That service should be free they should eat it and id want to know what they messed up or did
Yea, I agree...they should do a free service for ya' since your bike has been tied up for 12 days. My 1000 mile service took 'em about 2 1/2 hours and I told 'em to take their time and do it right...I was in no hurry while I was waitin' for the bike.
Something's "not right" with their reasons to keep your ride that long...
My God,Cudos for your patience! Of course it would never be good to yell at them or get upset and loose it , but a 10oo mile service is supposed to take 1.5 hrs. 2.5 hrs MAXX! And up here they charge extra time if it takes the tek longer to complete the work. first sevice only involves changing the fluids and checking the brakes and clutch adjustment, nothing complicated , and they usually assign some pit monkey at 8 bux an hour to do most of it. Oil coming out of the breathers is not that unusual , but it takes alot for it to become apparent unless you remove the A/C cover , or else they F'd it up by putting too much oil in the first place. I am using an arlen ness Big Sucker which leads the blow-by oil back into the cylinders to burn, that way there is no mess to deal with. Any how no way they should have kept you waiting.

Sounds like the sort of wait a Ducati dealer would come up with due to "Waiting on Parts"
An oil change on a Harley with the slap in the face of "To Busy Assembling New Bikes" would have me never returning unless in dire straits and definitely posting up in the crap dealers area.
I know H-D dealers get bashed and many deserve all the criticism and rants from the forum members they get because of the stupid **** they pull on their customers. However, I have to give a 180 degree opposite perspective on services performed by the dealer where I bought my bike. My dealer always gets my bike back when they say they would, have used non-Harley lubricants at my request, and reduced the price of the services at times when they showed me something that didn't need to be done I thought should have. They have even (during a slow time) let me watch the tech (I use only one specific tech) work on my bike. I got into a jam installing my True-Track (which I think is some of the best $$ I ever spent) and the tech straightened it out while I watched. Bottom line, they are great people and I damn sure will buy from them again, even if they are a few $$ higher than some of the competition and I'm not sure they would be in this current market.
Keeping your bike for 12+ days for a 1K service is totally out of the question and I agree with others that they probably f***** up something and are stalling. My dealer screwed up a part on my buddy's bike during his service, informed him immediately, and gave him a "loaner" to ride until they got the issue squared away. Fortunately, I haven't had the "dealer nightmares" that some of you have experienced.
