I'm not sure what you're riding... but some of it has to do with where the bars position your hands.

I've got an 08 FXDF with Fat Boy bars & risers... these are the mirrors I'm using (the 3" ones):

There are optional long stems available (the mirror & stem are two seperate pieces):

I had the same issue when I switched to drag bars.

I know you said you wanted to keep the stock mirrors but incase that isnt a option here is what I bought.

Kury Magnum Plus - they have 2inch longer stems and I can see again

I have the same problem I put on narrower zbars and now i cant see. I'm thinking of putting on bar end mirrors from joker machine but they are very pricey. I'd really like to see if you find a solution and let us know.

When I went to drag bars I had the same thing. Bought a set of after market mirrors but they vibrated to much. went with paul yaffe grips and grip end mirror. They cost but I got lucky and got the mirror and stem on ebay. I like the look and works great.

Do you have to move your hand position to see in the mirrors?

I got the Harley long stem stock mirrors for my Street Slammers. Had same problem and longer stem took care of it. pn 91846-03A and 91848-03A. Page 591 in 2009 HD catalog.

I did the same, but only on the left, so far. They're not much longer, but they make world of difference. You can also get mirror extensions. PN 91907-87

The mirror extensions work and are the quick and easy cheap way to keep your stocker mirrors. Dad put them on his ultra and they made a world of difference in seeing around the tour pack.

Do theses extensions attach to the bars..then you attach the original mirror & stem to the extension?

Thanks
