Let me say that I know that this subject has been beaten to death on this forum, I am just getting info for myself. I ride a 06 S/B with a detachable windshield. I also ride with a helmet( promised myself to do this), the reason that I bring this up is, I bought a new helmet without a visor or shield. My old one had a visor. Since riding with the new one I do not feel much buffing. Just wondering if the visor and shield was what caused the buffing. I have even felt for the wind coming up by the seat and coming under the windshield and it is not much. Has any one else had this happen. When I ride I do a lot of out of town so I get the full effect of the wind, also not much draft from vehicles though I ride back a safe distance. Like I said not trying to beat a dead horse just an observation on my part.
This may not be what you're looking for...I don't ride with a windshield. Anyway, I bought an HJC FS-2 helmet last August, and around town it would be fine, but once I got on the highway it would actually cause pretty bad neck pain from how bad the wind buffeting/pull was. I removed the visor, and it helped marginally...still a miserable experience over 50mph.
I switched to a Vega half helmet, no visor, and it's awesome...no buffeting or pulling at any speed.
Rockon, that is what I bought the Vega half Helmet with the option of a snap on visor and faceshield. Feels awsome with out the buffing. May have to get use to the taste of bugs.
For me the wind buffeting is worse with my half helmet than my full face. Although, I just buy a headtrip carbon fiber helmet and I noticed that the wind buffeting isn't as bad, I guess it's because it's a lower profile helmet and doesn't catch as much wind.
Buffeting is no longer an issue for me since I got a Windvest windshield. The quick detach shield that came with the bike was absolutely punishing on the highway.
