My custom seat maker says there is a plastic film that HD puts over the foam to protect a seat from absorbing water. If that film is gone it will soak up moisture and then drip and or mold. You should unstaple your seat and put some protection over the foam. GL
Funny you say that. I was just looking at my 09 FXDF last night thinking it would probably soak up water in the rain. The FXDF is the only Harley I have seen with the "breathable" seat fabric in the middle. Normally it would but covered, by your a$$ when you ride, but you'll want to remove it when washing it.
09 Fat Bob, If I ride in the rain or wash it my seat will drip for days out of the left side right above the fuse box. Do they all do that????
I did about 250 miles a couple of months ago in hard driving rain and my seat didn't do that. Haven't sprayed water on the seat washing it, so no experience there.
Funny, my '08 fxdf doesn't hold water. I rode in the rain once 3 hrs to get to my bud's house, next morning wipe her down and ride - no wet a$$$. And I don't always take the seat off to wash her, wipe down - all good!must be a defect in some of them! Check it it's all under warrenty!
I never get a wet *** I always wear my riding pants but with warm weather here, I will break out the leathers. I only see just a water puddle on the Lside of the bike
