finally got to play with my tools today... relocated front turn signals and put on a set of modified stock fatbob risers... basically, i bought an extra set of stock risers off ebay and had an inch cut off the bottom and drilled out a little bit deeper... i then mounted them backwards, setting my handlebars a little lower and a little further away from me... originally wanted to cut 2 inches off, but someone suggested that the throttle cables would be draggin across my gas cap, if not the tank itself... good call, i might could have cut 1 1/4 but i doubt anymore than that... as is clearance is great!!...
also, did my first ever wire solder today... nuthin fell apart and everything works so i guess i did ok... for what its worth, radio shack had an excellent choice of soldering stuff, clamps, and widgets reasonably priced, much better than the auto parts store...will try to include pics...
question... tried to include pics, but attachment window says .jpg pics range from 88 to 100 kb .jpg... is these too big?
Nice............
What was your reasoning for flipping the mounts forward, was it to gain clearance so the bar wouldn't hit the tank? Or did you need the extra length?
hsb.. im tall and lanky and the handlebars were just too close...i like a leaning slightly forward riding position ... flipped the mounts around to give me more room,... truthfully, i wish i could have moved them a little more... but there aint much more i can do, already got a drag bar, no pull back on the risers, so... there it is... think it will be ok tho...
You just gave me a good idea. My apes hit the tank at full lock. Going to try flipping the risers around. It may give me the little bit of clearance I need.
