Hey guys,
Here are a couple of dumb questions from a dyna newbie.
I am looking very seriously at a wide glide, and will most likely pull the trigger next week.
As my wife is kinda "vertically challenged"(hard time to reach the ground on a low rider! Around 5'2''), what would be the lowest seat/shock combo available for a 02 FXDWG?
Would I need new brakelines/cables if I go with a 37" wide 10" ape hanger?
Thanks in advance
Frenchman

Are you using "low rider" as a generic term or model-specific. Is your wife going to be operating the motorcycle or just a passenger? If she will be just a passenger, I wouldn't think it would matter if she can touch the ground. Just as long as she can reach the passenger pegs.
Are those 'ape hangers' 10" tall or wide? I don't think 10" constitutes being "ape hangers". If they are 10" tall, you may want to look at the cables that are stock on the later model WG that came with mini-apes (10"). Probably find a complete setup on ebay for a reasonable price.
Not sure what size the stock shocks are on an 02 WG so it's tough to say how low you can go. They're probably close to 12" shocks. I wouldn't go below 11.5" riding two-up, even if your wife seems to be petite.
Seats....that's pretty open as I don't have a lot of experience with different models of seats.
She sat on a dyna low rider, stock, and had a hard time reaching the ground, and yes, she will ride the bike.
As for the apes, i thought 10 inch high, maybe 12. I don't think the rise is the problem, but I would really like to go 36"+ in width, that's I think where the issue may be.
Sounds like she need's a Sportster. Last thing you want to do is put her in too much bike. Once they start to lean over past a certian point it takes everything I got to keep her upright. Might also want to think about a set of engine guard bars. If she were to drop it chances are it want hurt a thing.... Dont ask me how I know.
