Need some quick answers, if possible. Ordering new tires tonight.
I'm really on the edge on which tires to order. I'm ordering them tonight, but I'm just not sure which to get..
I really like the way the Conti road attacks look. Pretty cool tread design. But nobody on the forums has them (that I know of..) and I'm not to sure on how they'll look/function or what sort of mileage to expect out of them.
A lot of you guys are also running the Avon Storm on rear and Avon Venom on front. I've always loved the way Avons looked, and have heard great things about them.. should I just go ahead with the Avons?
I can't decide!! Its driving me nuts.. I've been going back and forth all day long. SO, I figured I'd ask the nuthouse what you all think.. ( )
I had Road Attacks on my FZ1, and they were great tires, but I don't really see them as being useful on a cruiser. They were only good for about 6k on the FZ1, which weighs about 200 lbs less. I would think any extra grip you gain from them won't be worth how quick they'll wear out on your bike. Does Continental even recommend putting them on a cruiser?
I did the ME880s, and they are really great tires. Why not go with those? Plenty grippy, and designed for cruisers.
I'll also add that with the Avon's you would be mixing a radial rear with a bias front. I know some manufacturers say this is OK, but it just doen't seem right to me. I'm going to go with radials front and back that is why I'll need to go with the 110/80 front. You will NOT find a 100 or 110/90 in a radial.

That's what I thought too.. but I searched Avon Venoms and apparently quite a few people are rocking the Storm on the rear and venom on the front.

+ 2 on the Metz 880. I had the Avon's on front and back with the front cupping after 4,000 miles. Good for traction and looks, but not that great on mileage. I believe the best bang for the buck is the Metzlers.
I would get metzelers, but I hear the 170 doesn't look much different from the stock tire size.. and I HATED the way the stock tire looked, especially with my fender being chopped. I would just get the SE180 rear and SE front, but they are crazy expensive now for whatever reason..
