Default Pipe Help!!

I am a NEWB to the Harley Davidson and Motorcycle world! I have a 2009 Street Bob and I am looking to put some pipes on it. I know I have to get a fuel mapper, but what else? Also, what do you Street Bob owners suggest? I have heard the short shots on a superglide and loved the way it sounded!

The short shots look good on the Bobs but I kind of like the Vance and Hines Big Radius 2-1 on the 09 Bob.

As far as what you need if your doing exhaust and a controller you need to go ahead and do the Breather as well.

I may be biased, but I like the Bassani Pro Street pipes. Plus you can save some cash running pre-06 pipes if you use a power commander since it eliminates the O2 sensors. I picked my pre-06 pipes up on ebay for about 60% less than the 06-09 pipes cost.

Pipes, tuner, high flow a/c........$1000.00 plus.

Which is best? You will get 50 different suggestions here and still not know which will suit your tastes.

Go to rallies, local bike nights, watering holes, etc.

This way you can look, listen, and decide before you spend the loot. Cheaper to do this than it is to decide on what you like after you've spent the loot.

If you are itching for sound, buy a $150.00 set of slip-ons til you decide. No tuner or a/c needed with them. You can sell the muffs when you do the full set-up and only be out a few bucks.

Are you saying that if I put slip ons on my '09 fxdb.....no baffles...no restriction what-so-ever...."saw off the mufflers" even....that I don't need a/c or sert/pc if I just want to make a lot of noise???????? And the bike will run good and not void the warranty???

Generally that's how it works. I've heard of some guys buying aftermarket slipons and occasionally having an issue, but if you get Screaming Eagles, you should be good to go. As for the no restriction bit, that'll cause you nothing but problems...you'd need to remap and would lose power as well. You need that backpressure.

I think you'll eventually want to redo the whole setup rather than stick with slipons....

performance > lots of noise

Generally it can adjust enough for just slip-ons. Mine ran good with just the SE slip-ons. Now if you go taking the baffles out that may be more flow than it can adjust for.

Everyones opinion is different. Generally speaking you will get more performance from a 2 into 1 system and a good tuner of either SERT or PC. If it's sound you are looking for go to you-tube and search different pipes and choose the one you like best. Then do a search here for how that pipe performs. Bottom line is take your time in selection because you don't want to go pipe poor from buying a pipe you might not be happy with after a few more follow-on mods.
