Default Biggest PITA "project"

Well - I'm reluctant to call it a "project" cuz it was pretty simple but man.........anyway I was installing new grips yesterday - never did it before and didn't know what to expect. ended up being no problem and everything went together without a hitch, changed the mirrors too while I was at it......whole thing took like 1/2 an hour.

I had figured much more time but anyway I stepped back when I was done to have a look and thought to myself............."self - those damn reflectors on the forks and rear fender really look like shyt" So since I had some extra time I jumped into getting those little bastages off. I had the goo gone, the WD40, fishing line etc. so figured this would be a 10 minute job. Damn that glue is some tough stuff - I think the guy that invented it is the same dude who torqued down the bolt holding on the upper belt guard. The reflectors came off pretty easy but the adhesive left behind was stubborn as hell. Took me like an hour to get it all off. Looks good though.

I won't have it on the road till the beginning of May....once its out in the sunshine I'll take and post some pics....I tore my achilles tendon in January and its still not "right" so I figure I should wait a few more weeks to give it some time to heal up before I go riding.

I did a few other things over the winter too:

Painted the battery cover, headlight trim ring and the taillight cover. Added a hogrida laydown, curved licence plate bracket, black finned derby cover, nightrain horn cover, HD flamed grips (to match the footpegs and shifter), black mirrors - removed the upper and lower belt guards......looking forward to getting it out on the road.

I always thought the ones on the forks were some of the easiest to get off, all I had to do was pull and stretch it like i was making it longer, and it releases and came off in 1 big piece.

Hard to explain, but once you stop trying to peal it and start stretching it, it just came right off.

Just for me anyway.

Worth the effort anyway, as m sure you look at it now right?

Anything that is applied with adhesives comes right off if you apply some heat to it. I removed everything from my bob and a heat gun made it no problem at all.

Forks weren't too bad, fender was a mf'r. They used an interior type of double stick that pulls apart. The front forks is an auto molding type and came off easier.
