Occassionally while I'm browsing ebay and I come across an incorrect description of a part I will try to clarify with the seller so they can update their info.
The other day I was looking at a set of 06 take-off heads. The seller had them listed as being for the 2006 96" motor. I emailed him and asked him if it was a 2006 or a 96" take-off. I then explained the 2006 dyna had an 88" motor. Displacement was bumped to 96" in 2007. He's argued with me until I've given up with him.
He is still listing them as 2006 96" take-off cylinder heads.
yeah, ive seen some crazy stuff on ebay... my favorite is a dude was selling a wide tire kit without the tire for an 08 dyna! he was asking like 150 bucks and BIN was msrp! i emailed him and asked him what else i got in the kit that was worth that much money(knowing damn well nothing it that kit was worth more than 20 bucks)... he said bolts, inner fender bracket and directions... i said he should try not ripping people off like that!
I wouldn't trust big engine components like that on ebay, but never had a problem with accessories. If you are really interested ask him for part numbers and try to look it up. Other then that I usually stick to accessories and only deal with people that have a 99-100% in the feedback.

I don't know how people can do that and sleep at night...
eBay continually amazes me. Caveat Emptor is the key. I actually sold my 1996 BMW 328is, which was in excellent condition except for a blown engine, in Sept. 2007 to a buyer from near Baltimore, MD (I am in central NJ). He had an M3 engine looking for a home and my car was it. I have found good deals and also lousy deals. If someone is not a good seller or a non communicator, I just don't buy. I also do not buy any parts unless the part numer is validated.
I've only corrected a seller once...he was very polite and actually thanked me for clarifying the error for him. You've gotta love when someone's has to be stubborn and bullheaded about it.
