I have finally decided to go the gear drive setup on my 05 88"
I was looking at an Andrews kit on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ANDRE...1%7C240%3A1318
Has anyone had any dealings with these kits? I am wondering what the quality is like?
I will be going to 95" and flat top pistons pretty soon as well as ported heads.
I was told the .510 cam is the go with flat tops and 95 " .
I notice there is a couple of 510 cams on that page. Would it be a good idea to go the more conservative 510?
I am not after huge power and I wont be revving it to 5800 anyway. I certainly want to keep good torque down low and I want to load the bike up for touring.
any input is welcome.......
Anyone got any other links for kits to do this?

Gear drives are great & the 37's with 9.5 to 1, or the Woods TW-6G with 10.25 to 1 will give you the kind of power you're after...good combinations & proven over & over again!
.510 lift is plenty mild - I'm running the TW9BGs....630. However, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you rebuild your flywheels and rods while you are at it, and change the INA bearing over to Timken. Weld the flywheels and ensure everything is well balanced. You don't want crank/pinion run-out of any more than .002" with a gear set. If any dealer or shop tells you otherwise, run like the wind.
Those sets are fine. I ordered mine from the same place. I didnt get the lifters or push rods. I think the lifters are cheep IMO. You will need new pushrod tubes if you order that kit. Get the harley ones 18538-99B they are about $100 for a set of 4 from Zanotti's. I got the SE Tapered pushrods, got them for like $135 from Zanattis as well.
I used the 37g cam in my 95" build. Had the heads ported, larger intake and exhaust valves, heads are at 81cc's-9.8:1 with 95" SE flat top pistons. I got pretty good results from the 37's. The best thing I could recommend for picking cams would be to look at dyno sheets and see when and where the power is and decide where you want it.
thanks for the replies.
Those numbers are what I am looking for.
I pick the milder 510.
We don't have many HD shops to choose from here. I mentioned this run out thing to the shop and the person didn't know what I was talking about.
I have a private HD mechanic doing my stuff but I can't get hold of him for another 2 weeks.
Any other links or places I should try to buy the kit from? What sort of prices are S&S charging?
Hey tomato what sort of cost is involved in the flywheel thing? Can you give me a basic rundown of what gets done?
Cheers
