So my buddy got rid of the ugly stock bars on his rocker c and put on a 1.5" straight bar with 6" risers that have individual tops - looks great except that the bar/risers move around now - for example when you turn it to full lock out the risers and bar will still move a 1/4 inch or more past that, so when you bring the wheel back to straight the bars are mis-aligned. I took them apart, replaced the stock bushings with some urethane ones and reinstalled them...only to find out that it was still had the same problem. It was at this point that my buddy had to be put on suicide watch.
So what gives? I'm not that experienced but this seemed to be a pretty straight forward deal to be this much of a problem. Any help or advice is appreciated.
for those that helped yesterday, i got the switch fixed - there was an extra brass throttle ferrule bouncing around inside the housing.
Coach it sounds like you've done what you needed by replaceing the bushings are the studs on the risers the same size as the ones you took off ? Check the bushings on the studs without them on the bike they should fit tight. If not that could be the issue.........hope this helps.
had it apart again and those fu**ers still move. If I can't get this resolved in the next day or so the run we were going to make up around the grand canyon will be shot...
Sorry, no pics but - the risers are Drag Specialties part#0602-0161. The tops are Drag Specialties part#0602-0157. The bar is a "big" buffalo bar, part#0601-0668. They are all buffalo products and the risers are supposedly made for that specific bar. Someone mentioned getting them pinned and someone else said to get a one-piece riser cover, any suggestions? So the new bushings are tight on the studs, the risers are snug on the bushings, and the whole show is torqued down prior to installing the bars and your still have movement...? Hmmm. IMO It's really got to be one those things causing it.
Did you get the riser bolts they suggested on their website?
