Default removing front wheel

Can't seem to get the slider cap screws loose , they are TIGHT. I may have stripped one already, not sure. Any tips on getting them off , are they metric? I may be using the wrong size. Help appreciated, thanks.

The front forks are Showa (jap) the cap screws you are having trouble with are 5mm. Also just for reference both the calipers are metruc as well. The bolt that hold the caliper to the fork are 10mm as are the bolts for the brake pads.

Thanks a lot for the info that could be the problem. I'll go get some more metric tools.
