i am pretty sure that is the one you want... i ride with a fella with that bike and the rockster... the rockster has the other version of the tire... you want the one wiht a higher load rating
The H-rated one tends to be about 30 bucks cheaper than the V-rated one. I've run 'em both and didn't feel any difference. Assuming youre going to keep it under 120mph pro'ly no reason to spend the extra money.
I am also considering the Metzeler. I see a 160/70 HB-17 and a 160/79 VB-17, these are speed ratings not load, are there other versions too?
CB
I think you're mixing speed and load ratings. They make a 73 and a 79 load rated tire. The 79 load rating is the BMW tire for the K1200LT. The 73 load rating is for the cruiser market. If you go to Metzeler's website you can see both.

I only see the 2 tires listed below isted on the website so the V rated is the heavier load rated also
160/70 B 17 M/C 73H TL
160/70 B 17 M/C 79V REINFTL
I know some use this tire, which i was thinking about using.
170/60 R 17 M/C 78V REINFTL
It is a radial, but I do not see a radial listed for a front tire, in fact I don't even see a Bias (belted) ply listed for a front? What gives?
100/90 - 19 M/C 57H TL
110/90 - 19 M/C 62H TL

I've used the heavy duty/high load version on my previous Triumph Speedmaster (weigth similar to 1200 Sporty).
It last veeery long, more than 12,000mi but the rubber is so heavy that it has poor grip on wet. I risked 2-3 times to fall on twistes on Alpes mountains after a bit of rain left roads wet.
I'll not use them anymore.
There's cheap good tyres with "normal" lasting and good grip. I like Avon Venom, Maxxis, Pirelli Route and Michelin Lasertec is the best for front wheel.
