I've been riding for 20 years and have never has a bike with a windshield. If i'm on the highway, I'm normally in a full face helmet. More for safety reasons than anything else.

I feel your pain, had mine on I-95 here near DC, speed limit 55-60.. minimum 75-80 if you dont wanna get run over.. It's tolerable for short stints, but I'm definitely investing in a WS for long trips..

Also, I have a full face helmet, it doesn't help all that much, you still get pegged in the chest pretty dang hard, and it wares you out...

If nobody else has already said it, get some ear plugs. You'll be amazed what they do for you at highway speeds. IMO, they're a must when wearing a half helmet. Windshield or not, the windnoise out on the road contributes significantly to fatigue.

Regarding windshields, I'm very happy with my Windvest shield. Quality piece.

I love my fatbob, w/ no windshield and a half helmet. I love the open feeling, and I ride around 70-80 most days on the highway. I'm about to hop on the scoot in a few as soon as the traffic dies down a bit. I just love the dang thing! I need extensions for the footpegs, I'm 6'3 and have to move my knee to downshift. Riding on the fatbob just takes some time, I felt the same way at first but I am very comfortable now

Congrats on the new fat bob. I got a windshield not long after I got mine. It has hardlethey come off since I got it. Beats the hell outta gettin windblown and stuff flying in your face when you are trying to ride. I had a guy thow a beer bottle out the window in a truck in front of me. Glass flew up in front and hit all on my windshield. I could only imagine what it would have been like without the protection.

Besides I think its faster with the windshield....and it looks cool all "Baggered" out....lol

Memphis Shades Sportshield family are the ticket.

Outlaw helmet, got one, junk.

Cheap full face helmet, not aerodymanic and will rattle your head.

HD QD windshield, most people have buffetting problems with them.

National Cycle makes a great sport shield but the hardware is plastic and handlebar mounted, always made me regret buying it.

Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse and Dennis Kirk is where I bought my Memphis Shades. MAW for the shield and Dennis Kirk for the hardware since they had a low price quarantee on items over $100. They wouldn't do a bargain on the shield too so I bought it from MAW for about $10 under Kirk.

How about a pic of it on the bike?

I felt the same way with my bike but after I put the apes on it the wind blast changed totally for me. I typically wear a full face helmet but have wires surgically installed in my neck so I am sensitive to alot of wind that makes me uncomfortable. Now I only use the qd windshield when I'm going to be riding alot of interstate. Just short runs above 65mph are very tolerable for me now. I guess what I'm suggesting is riding position may have a little to do your comfort level with the wind.

I thought it was just me. I also have the HD quick release windshield and rarely use it. I much prefer the bike without the shield, but I also wear a FF helmet.
