Miles To Empty...
No
I can usually run 165 to 175 before I fill up. Light comes on at about .9 gallons so I figure I got about 40 miles if need it. Most I ever ran with the light on was about 20 miles.

does anyone know how the speedo/odometer calculates how many miles you have remaining, let's say at fill up? What does it base the fresh tank "expected miles" on, previous history? Does it remember and calculate?
Well that and riding with a pick skirt and heels.
I've gone as far as 205 miles without running out of gas. That was all highway miles and I put 4.2 gallons in but it wasn't topped off al the way. I put about 8 miles on it once it read R lo. I'd say I had about .3 - .5 gallons left. I have had the miles to empty read as far as 181 miles at one point.
The average to reserve is based on just that an average. It calcs flow through injectors and vaccuum levels. 2008 SG do infact have this function. I find it pretty accurate on the miles to reserve. At least on my bike.
if it works that way then it must calculate your initial mileage based on the fuel injection system and count down based on fuel gauge or something because mine seemed to coordinate with my fuel gauge after I added the tank lift. The gauge says empty way before it actually is and the count down thing initially starts at around 190 but falls off rapidly at just under a half tank.
Just wondering how much rider weight plays in all these varying mpg numbers within the Dyna class.
Obviously we all have different riding habits, but if all things were equal, including engine mods, how much better or worse is our milage based on rider (+ passenger) weight ?
Someone posted earlier their combined 2 up weight is 500 lbs. If the bike only weighs 700+- lbs., that would seem to be a factor, especially pulling up hills.
