My throttle is a little hard to turn after bike is started , turns ok until I crank it. I am not a mechanic. Wondering if this is a problem. I have went to he local HD shop and was told that it feels normal to them. I have oiled the cable a little but it still feels hard to turn to me. Anyone else have this proble. My bike is an 06, do the cable wear out over time, never had this hapen before. it sat for about a week without being cranked. It may just be me but seems differant to me.
Yes, cables do wear out. But why your throttle grip would be harder to turn -after- the bike is started is a mystery indeed.
Just a thought out of left field here: Perhaps engine vibration is causing friction between the grip and the handlebar? Maybe a light dusting of graphite on the inside of the grip is in order.
EDIT: Sorry, I would have assumed a check on the thumb screw had already happened

Do a check on the thumb screw that it is loose, it might have become tightened I normaly ride with mine slightly tight as I prefer it that way, it means on long trips I can remove my hand from the grip with out the bike slowing, let us know what you find,
what about the thumb screw? ha ours are a piece of cake next to the older bikes![/quote]
SOMEHOW ,i accidentley tightend mine, couldnt figure out why it was idling so high, it was the throttle lock.
I have had the dealership oil the cable at the connection joint. Will try graphite under the grip. Could be binding on the handle bar part. Thought maybe binding on the accelartor part of the throttle body. Like I said did not ride for a week due to rainy conditions here, could be a little gunk under the grip.
