Hi anyone know a link for a shock adjustment wrench for 2006 dyna and whats the factory setting a only weight 160lbs but it seems to bottom out easy think i'll stiffen her up a bit i hear if you put i lttle heavier fluid in front shocks they get a little stiffer too bottomed her out few times already and pipes hit on corners too.
I weigh 280 and dropped my rear preload down to 1 so the back end sits low and rides soft. It hardly ever bottoms out. I didn't use the spanner wrench the adjust it, all you have to do is put your bike on the mtorcycle jack to take the load off the back, and then grap firmly on the coil spring and the bottom chrome piece that has the adjustement holes in it and just twist really hard. It will pop every time you get to the next number of preload.
mine handles great on 1, but since i dropped it, i found that if i lean too much going threw the curvy mountain roads i'll ocassionally scuff the heel of my boot on the road. ( i have forward controls)
Dunno the part number, went to the shop and purchased one. Our manual in Aussie (international version I think) doesn't even mention the bloody thing or the fact that it is adjustable and what the settings are ).
1 is the softest 5 is the hardest. You can see how the spring compresses with each step upwards. Rotation clockwise (from an above viewpoint) increases the preload. I think each number equates (very very roughly) to a weight increment, but I can't remember what that is. The best approach is to grab the spanner and test the settings with some riding.
ORIGINAL: Original Junior
What direction do you turn them to be stiffer & softer?
