They are trying to use the economy against you and they are looking for people who have to get money quickly. Took my car to Carmax last weekend and they offered me $13,000. Sold it today for over $18,000. You're always better off selling yourself.
Trading a Harley at a metric dealer is like trading a Corvette at a Kia dealer. They don't even want the bike. Will be stuck with it until they take it to an auction. As mentioned, you will be much better off selling it yourself. Metric bikes can also have some major issues. My 98 Valk. had wheel and fork bearing problems and my 03 Gold Wing had a recall to check for frame cracks. Which metric are you thinking of buying? Saw pics. of the new Honda Fury. Love my FXDC so far but if the Fury had come out last year before I purchased the Sportster I would have taken a serious look.
Like was mentioned earlier in this post, kbb list blue book around 14 for a wide glide. Of course the dealer can't give what it's worth and turn around and make a profit, but that's just waaaay out of line!!
KBB has trade in listed at $10,800, which should be close to what they'd give you on a trade. All the crap of fluids changed, dealer maintained, blah blah blah doesnt mean anything on a trade or sale to a dealer. You probably go lowballed because of the metric dealer.
Way to low and what in the ever loving name would you go to a metric dealer with an HD, I can't even go in to buy that Honda Cleaner without gathering a mob with a rope.
Please tell me your kidding about buying a fury!!!
