Hey guys...I haven't posted that much or paid much attention to what's been going on here the last week or two. Been dealing with some health issues and other family obligations...anyway...I'm finally feeling a little better and I'm on vacation this week. Of course, as luck would have it, the weather here in NJ just sucks. Rain in the forcast all week. If I wasn't on vacation, it would be sunny and warm. So anyone in NJ wishing for better weather..you can blame me. It's my luck, and my fault.
So being that I can't ride this week, I want to re-live the winter, and spend some more money on my bike. Trouble is, I've picked up pretty much everything on my list (a list that I made when I bought my bike back in Oct). I've gone through the HD catalog, and a few aftermarket catalogs, and really can't find too much that interests me. Well..there are a lot of things that interest me, but those are a bit higher dollar items, so they're not something I can consider right now. Here's a list of everything I've gotten so far:

I think that's it
So basically, I'm just looking for some suggestions. If anyone here has installed something that you're really happy with...that really stands out, and you don't see it on my list, please let me know about it. Right now, my budget is allowing me to spend up to about 150-200 bucks give or take. So big ticket/performance items are probably out.
A couple of things I'm thinking about right now are a windshield, billet rear brake lever, matching (six shooter) LED gas gauge, and maybe some chrome engine hardware.
i have the custom dynamics led light kit. i got the stage two but didn't use all the lights i have 4 led pods left. it was $218.00 i'm very happy with them. they were fairly easy to install if your at all capable of using some tools (i don't know your mechanicle ability). they have a stage one kit, nut you get so much more for the stage 2 for not that much more money. i put two 18" strips unde the tank, one three strip under the horn cover and a/c, two 6" strips and two 3"stips under the rear fender, one led pod between the battery box and one behinde the kneck under the tank and still have four in case something burns out or gets damaged. i don't remember but i hink you have the black w/the black chery pearl, then red would look awsome, especially w/all that chrome! My friend w/the american iron horse has a black tejas with red leds that look awsome at night! just a thought. oh heres a pic of my leds to help you ponder![sm=badbadbad.gif]
Wow, all that free time and no bike work to do. I usually go to the stealer "just to look" and I always have something new to install when I get home. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!
tb - Those leds look cool. Is it legal to have those on when you ride? I am thinking if I had those I could park my bike in the living room and use the "It's a night light for your safety dear" excuse...
Mike..I'm in Hillsborough...about 10 miles west of New Brunswick. Was just down your way this past weekend.
TB...I really like the LEDs but to be perfectly honest...it's really rare that I ride at night..mainly because there are so many deer around here...so I think I will spend the money on something that will get more use.
mojo...I've done the dealer thing a few times now and have walked out empty handed...or with a t-shirt. Perhaps I just wasn't seeing something that caught my interest.
I'm really leaning towards getting a windshield right now. I want something detachable...I also want one that doesn't look half bad on a wide glide. At the same time, I want it to be effective. So I guess now I have to make that decision.
Well if your really bent on adding more **** to your bike, and a windshield is where your leaning, check J&P.
I saw a detachable "slip streamer" shield there phor less then 100 bux. I think if I remember it's 15" wide x 13" tall. I can't certify it's effectivness though.
Wow impresive list, let me provide one tad bit of information, chrome don't get you home. Maybe a new exhaust, air cleaner, carb kit, cam, ect.. something to increase performance or sound. I have a ton of chrome and know the pains assiciated with it plan on spending a few hours a week shinning, and just when you think she is clean you will see another place needing a buff. Get yourself a "pimp-stick" and some good detailing rags and polish your going to need them. Just me .02 worth
hey geno...I hear ya man...every time I ride, I get home, turn on the radio, grab a red bull and a pack of smokes, and put together my rags and polishes. But to be honest, I enjoy it. It gives me something to do, and when I'm done the bike looks good as new.
As far as the performance stuff, that tends to be a little bit pricier, which somewhere down the road it may be a road I take...but for now, I'm just looking for something relatively cheap to add to my list of bolt-ons. At the same time, I've gotten most of the chrome that I want, so functionality may be just as important at this point. That's why I'm thinking of a windshield. Of course, that's just one thing I'm thinking of right now.
Sounds like you need to by a rainsuit and install some gas in your fuel tank (ask me how) and go RIDING. It's been awhile for me so I'm going right now. If you want a windshield go with the HD standard height clear quick detach. It goes on and off in seconds and fits the profile of my bob. I took it off the other day, but on long trips it is a plus+. Sorry about the rain dude.
