i think I saw a thread about someone noticing fine scratches in their paint. I have riden mine about 4-5 times and have have noticed these fine/hairline scratches in my vivid black bob. Is this normal? Anything to get rid of them?
Thats why I choose the Black Denim. The swirls are pretty much unavoidable on dark gloss colors. The only thing you can do is use swirl/scratch removers.
Most bikes get fine scratches from your legs rubbing on the tank or whatever,Of course dark colors are more noticeable. I use Wizard products scratch remover to get rid of them by just buffing them with a soft cloth. wizardproducts.com

if the front of your jacket is flapping around and hitting your tank try rolling up the bottom of it to keep it off the tank. I had a problem with that when i first got my bike, I used some finese it polishing compound and a terry cloth towel and was able the rub out the scrathes by hand, and then i put on a good coat of wax.
I have a Black Dodge Ram QC with no swirls. Below is a link to the Dodge forum thats really detailed about taking care of black/red paint. I bought the wash mit, and a bunch of microfiber towels, and a jelly blade, (works wonders on the truck) makes a big difference. I havent waxed the truck yet, but I will follow these instructions. My Super Glide is Silver so I dont have these issues.
I've always had black bikes, and my 06 FLHRI is the first bike to
give me problems with hair line scratches or swirl marks.
Someone dropped a tool on my front fender,so I had it repainted.
Now the front fender is the only piece on my bike that doesn't show
any marks what so ever. I'am thinking the Harley clear coat on my
bike is crap.
