Default Poly Riser Bushings -- Wow.

About a week ago I swapped my rubber riser bushings with Polyurethane bushings. The difference is amazing, my mirrors are usable and my hands feel better after a long ride.

Talk about a great mod for under $13.

How about that, a parts guy at my local HD shop was telling me just about exactly that, this afternoon as I placed an order for some new 6" HD up and back risers for 1.25" bars.

I actually went in the opposite direction... I had polys and all i felt was vibration...couldn't even see out the mirrors at idle... ended up shaking my apes loose, actually

swapped back out to rubber and problems solved

I had the same issues with the rubber bushings.... Turned out when the dealership mounted the bars and risers, they over torqued the risers and stripped the threads in the not allowing them to tighten up properly. I found it when I replaced the rubber bushings. I re-tapped the threads and torqued the risers to spec. and problem solved ! I love the feel of the poly bushings, now that the problem is solved.

I swapped out my rubbers this winter for poly and didn't notice any difference. Actually, I forgot about it until I read your post...

I think its a lot more noticeable when you have apes, when I push my bike around I don't feel the give anymore.

Same here, the biggest plus is losing the forward and back play that the rubber bushings had.

The new bushings transmit more vibration, but don't have any "sloppiness" to them.
