. im thinking the same thing my self now... these are radiant , meaning the bike dosent have to be moving for it to cool the oil... i plan on mounting it vertically on one of my down tubes, this would keep the oil lines really short...
expert opinions will be apreciated... thanks!!
You will get less cooling with this type of cooler than a Jagg or HD. Are you thinking of putting in a bypass valve as well? You don't want it trying to cool things down in the winter.
The issue with a "mass" type cooler like that, is that the oil that is in contact with the cooling surfaces (on the inside) will insulate the hotter oil running just inside. The cooler oil will slow down, and the hotter oil will just slide down the middle.
That's the reason radiator core tubes are so small and flat. There is just not that much cross section of insulating medium.
And as far as the "radiator" style of coolers (HD, Jagg) are concerned, they also work at a standstill with no air flow. I would go so far to say that the radiator style would outperform the 'mass' style at any speed between 0 and 200. It's just more efficient at pulling heat out of the liquid you want to cool.
