Default Leaky oil plug

I started leaking oil from my oil plug. When I pulled the plug I discovered that the local shop that changed my oil last time must have screwed the threads up because the plug had epoxy all over the head of the bolt and the threads had been taped. So I re-threaded the hole with a pipe tap and put the correct size bolt in the hole. It was good for about a week. One of the guys at work suggested I use a helicoil kit to fix it. Does anyone have any experience using one of these kits in the oil pan and did it work?

Is the rubber o ring missing.
It sounds like you still need a repair, but a missing o ring will produce a leak.
