Yesterday went out for a ride, it was really hot and I was a bit groggy. So I pulled into a fast-food place to eat and cool off. I come out to the bike, put in the key, throw the switch and push the starter. Nothing happens.
Took me a full 5 minutes of checking things before I realized I hadn't put it into neutral before parking, like I usually do! Squeezed the clutch and of course it starts right up!
I had gotten so in the habit of putting it into neutral and then just walking up to it and starting it, it never dawned on me. Oh well, at least it turned out to be nothing.
I never park in gear for some reason.. I always have it in neutral. Probably a bad thing...... but if I'm on a hill or a slant, then its in gear always.
I almost always park in Neutral. I hadn't really thought about it before, but the more I think about it parking in gear makes more sense. Gonna work on that.
Don't feel like the lone ranger on this one. Same thing happened to me a few months ago after work. It'd been a real hard day and I was wiped out. Got on the bike turned the key hit the run switch and when the fuel pump light went out hit the start button and nothing. Try it a few more times thinking maybe the battery in the security fob had died.
Sat there for awhile then got off the bike getting ready to pull the electrical cover to take a look at the fuses that when it dawned on me that I forgot to put it in neutral.
Got back on the bike put it in neutral and it started right up.
