Question 91 Dyna Sturgis

bought a 91 Dyna Sturgis bout a year and a half ago. its #67, had 3000miles on it when i got it, took it for a 3500mi ride last june across the canadian rockies to the west coast and back.so now its more like 6500mi. love the bike! it has a dual disk front brake, screamin eagle fork brace, and 16" apes, still have the origional bars, tool bag, owners manual, service manual, parts book, even the keyfob.
some of my friends have said i might be better off selling what they beleve is a super rare, highly sought after, low mileage, low number, almost mint, Dyna and get something less rare to ride. is my bike really that special?? i guess if it is, i just might trade it for something i can ride the wheels off of.

In my opinion, a vehicle whether it has 2 or 4 wheels is made to be enjoyed. Back before I had a scoot I was big into the car scene. I had a buddy that had a pretty rare low number 87 Buick GNX. I won't bore you with the backgroound of the car but he drove the **** out of that car, street racing and drag racing. He had numerous high $$$ offers from different collectors some offering twice what he paid for it. He always turned them down because he knew they would just shove it in a garage somewhere. For example, when he bought the car in 2003, it had 150 miles on it because somebody bought it and stored it. If you can ride your bike and maintain it then why not just enjoy it?

I was told the same thing about my 100th anaiversery bike but I bought it to ride. The collectors who think they are going to worth so much should have theirs put up for safe keeping by now,
In 1987 Peterbilt quit making the 359 series truck, They offered a limited number of classics only 359 were built. today the numbered trucks are bringing big money to collectors and they have millions of mile on them. Ride the bike, enjoy the bike if someone wants to give you stupid money for it at some point take it and buy a new bike.

Man ever heard the old addage money can't buy happiness? Even if you blew the engine it wouldn't cost more than 3500 to get a whole new rebuild! It's yours enjoy it and be proud. From what I'm told those engines were put together better than the new ones-without chinese parts! No=one can tell you what to do but I'm willing to bet if your not twisting it W.O.T. at every turn ,it could easily last a lifetime! Or ride it to church on Sundays and buy another!

I say it's a piece of history and don't f*ck it up. They will never make them again. Those 2003 Hareys won't hold their value because they made too many.
