Pipes look great. what brand paint did you end up using? Good to know the 150 sanding works good.

Looks good.
I took my bike out yesterday and the pipes held up well. The spots on my picture are not there and the color is uniform. I will powder coat them when the opportunity allows, but for now its good to go.

Ummm..yah I did notice that the pipe underneath is more noticeable. If I do spray that, I'll probably go with a VHT silver or something to make it stand out. No resentment at all about the chrome choice. I was looking to take a bit of the shiny chrome off to make it more of a chrome/black/pewter blend.

Thanks,

i hope this information is of value to those who plan on painting something that's chrome. go to the nearest lumber yard, home depot, lowes etc. get a gallon of muriatic acid. and some rubber gloves and safety goggles. remove the parts from the bike first, using a nylon bristle brush, outside where you don't wanna kill any grass, paint the chrome parts with the muriatic acid. it'll remove the chrome, if not all is removed, then do it again. that way you're back to base metal sheet metal(steel) rinse well to kill the acid, dry the parts, and get ta painting. it's how we de chrome hot rodding parts on the fifties cars, and it works on harleys too. heat proof paint like vht etc. and you're set. i hope this helps someone. i use muriatic a lot, as i've got far fewer active brain cells to prove it.

please, i didn't mention it, cause the fad is to black out things. don't use the muriatic on aluminum cause it'll eat aluminum, all you'll have left is the steel screws. use a plastic butter tub or plastic dish for your pan as you paint it on the parts also. rinse the area where you used the acid too. it also plays hell with concrete.
