Default Forward Controls for Low Rider

Hello to All... I recently purchased a 2003 Low Rider for my wife. It came with forward controls already installed on it. Thats great for me, but my wife cannot reach the forward controls. So I need to convert back to the regular controls. I was wondering how easy this is going to be or how much this is giong to cost me. Any help or advice would be of great help to me. Thank You

My choice would be to mount up Floor boards. ( the type which mount to male mounts ) the same as pegs. In doing so, you both would be comfortable riding the LR.

Respects,
Ed

i did the opposite on my 02 fxdl. removed the stock footpegs, shifter brake etc, and went to the foreward controls. not a tuff job at all. and just as simple to swap back. traded off the fxdl, still got all the stock pegs, brake pedal, mounts etc. i gotta start selling the stuff i used on bikes i've owned .

I can't think it'd be too tough. When I bought my bike (used) it had forward controls and I like the Mid's . .the tech swapped them out in about 15 minutes. (FWIW)

Not tough either way, but it depends on what kind of forwards you have and how much was removed when they were installed. With Kuryakyn forward controls, it's very easy to switch back and forth because no components are removed from the primary. A cover is put over the mid-controls shifter spline and that's it. All you'd have to do is remove the forwards and mount up the mids. Simple tools and an hour or so of your time. If the primary was opened and the mid-control shifter parts removed, you'll have to put them back so not only will it be a bit more involved, you'll have to acquire the parts.

Lowriders come stock with mid-controls and highway pegs. You might find that setup is a good compromise for the both of you since you'll have a place to move your feet forward when you are riding the bike. I started with highway pegs and quickly found I didn't like moving my feet back and forth to shift and brake and I didn't like the mid-controls position enough to just leave my feet there. But I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam. I recently decided I wasn't even happy with the standard forwards and swapped them out for extended forwards. Now it's perfect for me. But everyone has their own personal preference.

I still have the mid-control components from my bike. Let me know if interested. Since I didn't have to remove any of the primary components, I just have the mid peg-mounts with stock brake pedal, stock pegs, and shifter rod. I don't have the brake rod because I gave it to my friend that also has a 03 lowrider. His was corroded pretty bad, so I gave him mine. Even though it's an 03 and mine is an 07, those particular parts seem to be interchangeable because the highway peg mounts he loaned me fit my bike just fine and the brake rod I gave him fit just fine. I'm going to be giving him my old forward controls as well if they will fit him - he's a bit on the vertically challenged side so we'll have to mount them up and see if he can use them.
