yeah, i downshift too.... but i gave up squeezing that mushy brake lever on the left grip. its soft as hell, and never slows me down. i just mash the crap outta that ratchet foot thingy on the left, and eventually i slow down.

so anyway.. saw 'wanaque' and my eyes lit up. i have a real nice ride from parsippany area, up through kinnelon, and west milford, out past skyline drive, past the resevoir, then around greenwood lake and back home. only highway i touch it rte 23, and thats just to get across it there & back. ride is around 80 miles, and only goes through a handful of traffic lights. its a beautiful thing.

supposed to be doing that ride this weekend, weather permitting.

I can't imagine not downshifting as you slow... keeps you in the proper gear in case things change and you need to get moving again.

Downshifting with a throttle blip is a must when you get real aggressive in the twisties. There are so many great roads here, that this is a regular ride for me. Drive in hard and deep, then brake, downshift and blip - sets you up for a smooth and fast exit. Just like on the race track with a car or bike. And, as an added bonus, the sound is absolute music to my ears.

I agree 100%,that`s why I downshift.
