Ethanol
We have *one* station in town that sells ethanol free gas. I can fill up there and no matter how hot the engine is on my bike, it'll fire right up first try every time, same with my p/u. If I've only got the ethanolized gas in my bike, it takes two and sometimes three tries to get the bike to fire up when it's hot. With the p/u, the starter has to turn a second or two longer to fire it up whether hot or cold. I also get ~4 or 5 mpg better with the ethanol-free gas than the other crap.
Corn was meant to be eaten or used to make 'shine!
Up until last year the state of Oregon did not use ethanol in the gas. But last year they made it mandatory 10% and everyone is complaining about it.
It's so bad that even the governor complained about it because his Prius dropped from 50mpg down to 40mpg. The state is now trying to get rid of ethanol, at least in Premium gas. They will still offer it in regular.
Right now it's still up in the air. But a few stations are now offering premium gas without ethanol at about 30 cents per gallon more than preminum with ethanol.
To me, it's worth the buck fifty extra to fill my tank because my bike performs better and I get at least 6 mpg better mileage, which is about 30 more miles per tank.
Ethanol is a lose, lose situation for everyone. It's bad for the environment and bad for our wallets. Of course the farmers love it because now they actually make money growing corn.
