Arrow Good deal: labor?

So I recently went looking for quotes on some work for my bike. I have an '09 Fat Bob and am looking to get the new black trees put on, HD mini apes and new risers, and black diamond cables. I understand the cost of all the parts, and the shop I want to do the job wants to charge $850 labor. Good deal????

yes... it is hard to quote labor man... depends on hr rate for the shop... 65 - 85 is a gooooood deal per hour... depends on the quality of the work as well.

Are the bars going to be internally wired? And if you do let them do the work, make sure you get your old parts back!

I'd be curious to know the labor rate they're charging and the hourly breakdown of how long it will take them to do the installs. You could do all of that work yourself, saving yourself $850 in labor.

If you could lift the bike high enough, you could pull both forks out of the tree at the same time, leaving everything intact except the brake line. I'd see that as the hardest part of the job.

The risers, and the bars are easy. The hardest part of that being pulling the wiring internal to the bars.

If you have that much cash to throw around on labor for that, can I borrow $500 to get my cams done??

Shops around here get 85 an hour 10 hours does not seem out of the question But do you trust them to do it. If you can do it at least you know it is done well and save 850.00 as mentioned if you let them do it make sure you get you take off parts

If I wasn't going to do it myself, I'd get a quote from a good indy shop - I bet it will come out cheaper. I can't quote the trees but the bars, risers, and cables should not be that much work. 10 hours seems like too long to do this by someone that should know what they are doing. My bike never goes back to the dealer for work anymore. Unless it's a recall that I have no other option on, it never will go back there.
