Hey all, after the rotator cuff surgery first of april i figured i was ready to throw my leg across the seat again on saturday. Anyway did some short rides and then go figure. Anyone familiar with Knotts Island NC ferry? anyway I come across an old couple on a Wing I think- metric sumpthin or other, looking lost as sheet about 50 yards from the street that goes to the ferry. (they are sitting in a dead end trying to find it,lol). So anyway I show them where it is (turn left right there where all those people are at-yard sale). They cruise right on by it, I shake my head and pull behind them but I aint in no hurry to run em down since my shoulder is a little (a lot) touchy anyway. Four or five minutes later I see them pulled off on the side of the road, his OL off the bike while he is getting ready to make a u-turn. So I figure what the hell I will stop and try and show them where they screwed the pooch the first time. Low and behold , I am pulling into this little side street where they are stopped, barely moving and hit some loose gravel and almost dropped the bike. Falling over on the port side , I really dont know how I kept the bike up but I did and sure did feel my shoulder friggen talkin to me. The people I was trying to help just kinda looked at me- anyway, nothing they could have done, but I was pissed that I tried to help them once- they give me the ok whatever, then I almost drop the bike and f*ck up my shoulder again. Oh well, hope they made it to the outer banx, I went off and enjoyed my ride on this side of the ferry. Between saturday and sunday I rode about 150 miles. Feeling pretty good now- I took some pix on sunday(intended to on saturday but didnt figure out until it was too late that the camera needed new batteries. Oh well- thought Id put them up- heres the link- later-craig
Hey, I searched on Rotator Cuff and read your post. I'm fixin to go get mine fixed 9Alongw tendon snap and 2 tendon tears and a biseps tear) and wonder how your doin now and how was/is the recovery?
riding again but am happy for you. I am still waiting to get back on my bike. I am having a RFA done to my spine and hope it works this time. As far as "You meet the nicest people on a Honda" goes you tried and F-Them . Sorry about the re-aggrevation of the cuff and enjoy your rides.........
A group of us met up at Knucklehead's Saturday morning and almost did the Knotts Island Ferry ride but instead we went West on 58 (and hit about 30 minutes of rain) then hit 35 South to Conway NC then we rode down to Ahoskie then Edenton NC and came back up to Virginia via 17.
The first part of the ride sucked and I get wetter than Rosie Odonnel looking at naked pictures of Oprah but I dried off pretty quick and by the time we all got to Outer Banks Harley I was dry. Turned out to be a really nice day.
Glad you are back riding again and maybe I'll see you around.
Glad to hear your back in the saddle again. I am recovering from back surgery 2 weeks ago. I havn't been able to ride since mid may. I have had back issues for years but I ruptured a disc in May which partially paralyzed my right leg and foot. I couldn't lift my right foot on to the foot board or to the brake. I am hoping after some physical therapy that I will be able to ride again by next season.
Good to hear you are back in the saddle and that you were trying to be helpful with those others. Anyway, you did the good deed for the day. Ride safe.
wow, i was surprised to see this post again, lol. Thanx for inquiring though guys. I just finished my physical therapy last week and although i still have a ways to go until complete recovery, (if there really will be such a thing) it is feeling really good now. 4 months in i have full range of motion, i can lift my arm up although slowly, however reaching across my body still can hurt a lot sometimes. I am lifting weights again at the gym and my biceps is slowly getting built back up but my triceps still have a ways to go. Might not sound so good but I didnt ever think I would have full use of it again. Just take her real slow, your ride will be sitting there when you heal.
Pignablanket, i did the ferry thing again yesterday- seems thats the ride all my friends like to do, but its getting real old to me now, lol. I actually had someone riding with for a change and that was kinda nice too. I saw some dark clouds we looked like we were heading directly to once we were in NC but never got wet.I want to do the 58 route like yall did, maybe next weekend. Yea , maybe see /meet you one day- peace - craig
