any good coater will want to do all the prep, i know i will nto let anyone else do prep on stuff that we do! cost differ depending on what you want as far as spiderwebs, we have odne my whole bike in superdurrable wet black and i dont have any of that BS on my scoot i ride it ALL the time and also take GREAT care of it! far as cost man... i can not quote you that on an open forum every coater is diff bud. if you are that worried i would say going with a satin like a 40% gloss would be your best bet... i have done a ton of that on my buddies night train... has a really industrial look to it

I kind of disagree, I come home from a good ride and my face is pretty beat up from crap coming off the road and bugs, but after 17k miles there is only one chip in the tank and that was there before I bought the bike, paint seems to hold up pretty well in my opinion.

I purchased mine in 2006 in black denim because it was a 1st year color and looked the best for my Bob. Check out my photos and you will see it looks as great today as it did the day I bought it. Plus Windex is all you need for a quick detail.

I've got a Blue Denim 2007 Street Bob and the paint looks like new !

As for the color of your denim paint you can take whatever metallic paint you want and put a flat varnish on top of that.
