How do they go in? When the coils get tighter, do they go up or down? Manual does not show it, and F***in HD tech put them in down on one side, and up on the other. Does it matter?
Also, my screw on the bottom was loose. Just to add how pissed I am with HD service. Fluid was leaking. Sorry, had to rant a bit. They replaced my front end last year.

I just got done putting Progressive lower springs in the front of mine. I need to see if I did it right. I put the long spring in first, put one small spring in, put washer, then the pvc pipe in it ( I cut a 1/2" off of it), and 26oz of fork oil in it. (Screaming eagle oil) Just want to know if this right. I took it around the block and if felt good. I'am riding about 200 miles tomorrow. Thanks for some info.
As far as install, the tightly wound part goes to the bottom, and re: fork oil, those are guidelines. you can put more or less to soften or stiffen the suspension, also oil weight will soften or stiffen your ride. I believe the SE fork oil is 15wt (much stiffer). The stock fork oil, type E is 5wt. The tech was an a$$. No matter what way you put them in, you install them the same. I'd smack that tech upside the head.
I'll have to do something with my front end soon. I installed Intiminators and man, my front end handles bumps like a rock. It's way too stiff. I may try to get them out and put some new fork springs in there instead. Either that, or remove the 10wt fork oil and put 5wt back in to try an soften it up a bit.
I've had that front end apart so many times, I'm definitely a pro at disassembly/assembly.
