Well...called the stealer this morning to book my 1000 mi. service...this is the 22 June .. he can get me in the 22 July...said I should have called when I had 300 mi. on it...I said that was 3 days ago, would that have made a difference?? He said no. So I asked if I should do an oil change myself...I would come in and buy what ever I needed..do the oil change to hold me over 'till I can get in. He said "sure ..good idea" (wasn't expecting that answer)....So.. haven't done an oil change on a Harley before...any advice?? Maybe just the engine oil 'till I can get the full service done or any other views on the matter?
I'm all about saving some $$$ Does the service manual give you all the info you need and tell you what fluids to use? And what kind of tools do you need to do this?

The service manual will walk you through everything that is suppose to be done at all the services along with anything you want to do to the bike.
As far as a fluid change all you need is 2 allen head wrenches, a torx bit and maybe a filter wrench. Depending on were you buy the parts it costs about $50 to do it yourself.
Wow! A month to get a 1k service done? Do they only have one tech on staff?
I asked if it was a good time to apply for a job as a HD mechanic and they said they need one bad and if I knew for one...(don't think I would pass for one...not for long at least).. Ha Ha
