Default Can baffles be removed from mufflers?

Hey gang, I have been away for awhile but I am back now with a question as usual. I have the HD Slash Slash Down muflers for 06 DYNA on my Lowrider and was wondering if the baffles can be removed from them safely. If anyone knows anything about this please hook me up. They are not the SE II as I wanted the ones made for my bike. Ride safe!

Don't take out the baffles. They do more than just "quiet" the sound. They are designed to create proper backpressure, too. Take out the baffles and your mill will run hot. Could damage it pretty badly. I had several people tell me to "just take out the baffles" from my SEII mufflers to make my bike sound louder.

Every service person I spoke to said this was a bad move. Instead, I replaced the H-D baffles with a product from Big City Thunder (www.bigcitythunder.com) that makes me sound like I have Vance & Hines Straightshots. Loud and proud! An easy install and just $129. I noticed a power increase and there was no adjustment required because they are designed to keep backpressure within specs.

My Dealer gave me a temp fix for the quiet stock sound while my V&H big shots are on back order. They put the slashdowns on them, and they were just as quiet as stock. I told them this wasn't cool with me because what I wanted was volume. The Service Manager said I could take the baffles out if I wanted. He then said it wouldnt' run as good and it doesn't, but for the short time frame I'll be ok doing this. It is LOUD!!, when you take em out. Just undo the 2 screws on each pipe at the end and get a pare of vice grips and pull them out. Or a cheaper way to get more volume and keep them in for the back pressure is to take them out and remove some of the fiberwrap on them. Just a thought.....

You can splt the difference, ditch the factory diverter baffle setup and put in the big city baffles in those SE slip ons and have the best of both worlds; sound and performance!
