I think the MoCo could have reintroduced the WG with:
-103" standard
-fat 200 rear w/bobtail fender
-fatter 120/70 21 front tire
-Softail custom style 2-up seat and sissy bar
-detachable bags, like the CVO Softail
-internal wired APES
-all the chrome from the past (not into black out)
+ the new flame tank option
THAT would be a reintroduction
Absoulutely. It's like you were reading my mind!
That kind of WG would sell like no other.
I'm sure they would jack up the price a couple G's though too.

Yes....Agreed 100%
Who is making the decisions over there. This new bike is a fatbob w/ a WG front end. They really cheapened it down a lot. The old WG was the top of the dyna line. MSRP started over 18K.
I love the look of the softail custom but dont like softails. The old WG was the perfect solution. I couldnt believe they took it out of the line up, and now I am in disbelief that they brought it back as this parts bike.

That's what I see.
The Softail Custom has the look of what the WG could/should be.
Some of us are 6' +, and that is where the WG shines.(My 98 and previous 01 were both comfortable)
I like mine on the highway, with the wife on back. I can stretch out and relax.
Again, the parts are there (SB and FB) just not on the new WG.
One thing I do like is the new dash!
Hijack...Tide-what apes are yours?

Regardless of the look of the new Wideglide, I'm not sure the moco did current WG owners any favors by reintroducing the name on a cheaper bike. That can't be good for resale values. The WG was at the top of the dyna line, and within a couple of years that image will change. I don't have a WG but my softail custom is like it's half brother. I wouldn't be happy at all if they cheapened it up and kept the name.

EXACTLY!!!
If I was offered $14,500 for my WG - I would tell the buyer no. But that's the starting price for a 2010' For the most part I like the new bike, but I HATE the fact they are calling it a Wide Glide.
I do not think the new WG with cheapen the older versions as they are not the same. Less chrome means less money for the new ones. I for one am glad that everyone is going "black and Subdued " on their bikes. Makes my chrome bike rarer. And being that I am surrounded by subdued crap daily in the Army I rather be surrounded by shiny stuff when I am not required to blend in....
