the make floorboards try google for some results. Also stirups work great and really make a dramatic difference. To me I don't see how stirrups loose anything comfort wise over floorboards.

I recommend Kuryakyn ISO dually pegs. They are nice and fat giving your foot a flat comfortable surface, but aren't going to cause any clearance problems.

I put a set of mini boards on my 03 fxdl and love them They mount just like pegs do. I needed to adjust both the shifter and the brake to get the right feel and clearance. I would not have it any other way. Have not scrapped a board yet, but then I don't ride it like I do the sporty. That's what the sportster is for

I just put on a set of Kuryakyn ISO Switchblades. I open them up on the highway and close them on the backroads when I want to get into corners more. I am still working on the best position atm..in fact just got back from the garage after an adjustment, just told my wife I was going to "test" ride again soon

+1 for the Kuryakyn ISO "Dually" pegs with optional Stirrups. I have mid controls however, but I know others with forwards that use this set up. Completely adjustable, look good and easy to install.
Also have matching highway and passenger pegs if you want to complete the look. Here is how they look on my ride......
