A dealer will usually note synthetic oil because they use regular unless told otherwise.

You can use either.

People have their favorite brands, but synthetic oil is better than regular. Since I can't get too technical, in a nutshell the main difference is that synthetic withstands more heat and friction than regular oil before breaking down. So it better protects engine parts from wear, allows longer service intervals, and is less likely to leave sludge deposits. Especially with the small quantities involved in a motorcycle engine, the minor difference in price is worth it for the increased protection. And the price difference is even smaller when you factor in the longer intervals between changes.

I use the Amsoil 20w-50 motorcycle oil (MCV) in motor and primary and Amsoil 75W-90 Severe Gear in trans. Synthetics are more heat resistant than normal oil.

90wt is too thin for the trans, change to something in the 140wt and you will notice a difference the first time you shift
