I want to add one, very discretely, somewhere. The smaller the better. I have a rpm gauge on the handle bar already, so I don't think it can go there. Plus that may not be an ideal location. I don't want to look at it all the time necessarily. Got any ideas?

Piece of mind. I've had a wire come lose without my knowing, a regulator failure, then a stator failure, then something else that I forget. After being almost stranded a few times, I'd just like to know that I've got a good 12v while I'm cruising out in the middle of nowhere. Sooner or later, something electrical will malfunction and I'd like to have as much notice as possible that I'm running out of juice.
I'd like a 1" round analog gauge, maybe mounted near the seat, but not very obvious.
What would you need that for? Just my .02 but I don't really see the point. srry no offense.
Unless things have changed, HD's having had a charging system idiot light since the Shovelhead....I know my 2000 doesn't...A volt meter is great to let you know if your charging system goes out, which they do all too often on HD's compared to some other vehicles.
I have a Kuryakyn LED gauge on my bike. For 40 bucks, it gives me piece of mind.
I've got the same LED gauge that XXXFLHRCI has a pic of. Mounted on the front brake mastercylinder. Very simple hookup and reliable. Got mine thru J&P cycles.
