Cash! talks trust me I went in to buy a 09 on a sunday... Dealer was thought I was just looking about till I said have cash & was ready to buy TODAY. Funny how that changes things.

Call about the local shops.. but also look at the used dyna's too.
I went in for a new dyna & walked out with a 05 low miles under 11k including tax & tittle. The thing is it already had the stage one, SE2 pipes & lots of extra's worth about another 4K someone else paid for. Plus the bike already had all the basic service. Here in Cal used dyna's seem to be a hard sell. Not as popular as the Soft tails. So my dealer was really happy to sell it. Tossed in free HOG membership & other goodies.

Can really make out on a good deal if your willing to put in the leg work.
Btw they are right if you think your getting screwed over by sales... wait till you have to deal with a screw job service.

Plus next time they tell you "its Harley" then tell them you expect that "high quality Harley customer service."

HD had good financing deal (I think 36 months at 3.9% interest) last winter on their bikes. Yes, the bikes will sell for MSRP, some dealers above this, but keep in mind that you can always negotiate on other things such as additional parts, service tune ups, and riding accessories. My brother bought a Fat Bob and he got them to give him his first tune-up for free, 10% off all the parts and installed for free, and 50% off a pair boots. On top of this the bike the dealer already had assembled had an alarm system on it and my brother didn't really want to pay for the alarm so they let him keep it for free. Even better, after he bought the bike he played poker (where you pick up a card at every department of the dealership) and he won $150.

There's about 7 different dealers within an hour of me and when I bought my bike I went to them all...a few times. I got a few deals on the prior year model and one dealer came down $2500 on an 06 Super Glide. I talked to another dealer that had the same bike, only different color and wheels and asked for the same deal and they practically laughed me out of the building....actually gave me the "I gotta put food on my table" line.

That was in February 2007 though...big change in the engine from 06 to 07, so that could have been part of the reason the dealer was willing to bargain. That and rumor has it that dealership is in a world of hurt and (still) needs to make more sales.

Lesson is, just shop around and don't corner yourself on one bike or color. You'll want to change everything within a few years anyway. Also don't be afraid to talk to an independent service guy. Most of them have connections with local dealers and might be able to hook you up with a better deal.

Ditto with all the above opinions. The days of jerking you around because there was a year long waiting list are long over. You can make a deal. They try a put on a brave face but they gotta be hurting in this economy. You just ran across an A-hole. Most sales are riders themselves and are decent...forget that guy and even if you buy at that Stealership don't buy from him.

I agree w/ all of the above. Visit ALL the shops in ur area. When I bought my 07 - (in 07) - brand new - I would take offers from dealers to other dealers & asked what they would do. Each dealer does not know how flexible other dealers will be ( there is no universal lowest price for any bike). My 07 SB was brand new, got 3K off the asking price (on managers special, whatever that is) - and got it "out the door" - no tax & license fee - they paid that.

Remember to take your time - don't pay more than your goal is - it will happen at the price you want it. And the best time to buy, is of course when the new models come out and they want to get rid of the old...

Just my 2 cents
J.
